Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

Course Introduction
The qualification covers the main techniques used by Beauty Specialists concerned with treatments for the head, neck, hands and feet .These include Make-up, facial treatments, manicure, pedicure and depilation. Further units in Eyelash perming and providing bleaching and chemical depilatory of hair are also included.This course will enable you to perform treatments for all general beauty treatments in a safe and effective manner.

On successful completion of the course you will be rewarded with a qualification that is recognised in industry.

The qualification consists of the following eight units:


VR170- Shaping Eyebrows and Tinting Eyelashes and Eyebrows
Eye treatments are designed to compliment a facial or make-up application. They can also be marketed as a package for brides or for before a holiday.  However all clients will benefit from one of the treatments if not all of them. 
The content of the unit will cover eye lash & eyebrow tints & eyebrow shaping.
VR169-Provide Eyelash Perming
Eyelash perming is now a popular salon treatment particularly for clients with straight, short lashes.  However this service will compliment all clients particularly your mature clientele, for sports women or for those who wear contact lenses or glasses. This treatment is designed to compliment an eyelash tint, facial or make-up application.    
VR06-Apply and Instruct on Make-Up
This unit will enable the therapist to provide a professional make-up application for clients of all ages with varying skin types and for a variety of occasions, including day, evening and using corrective techniques. For all mobile therapists marketing the bridal industry this is an essential skill to have. It is also common for clients to ask their facial therapist advice on applying make-up. Additional to this you will learn how to apply false lashes to enhance your make-up application. 
VR05-Provide facial massage
Facials are one of the most popular salon treatments, many clients are now extremely conscious of looking after their skin to maintain a healthy & glowing, young looking appearance. 
This unit will allow you to become a fully qualified Facial Massage Therapist in providing a skin analysis, treating a variety of skin conditions and performing a relaxing facial massage, as well as being able to advise on homecare products. 
VR08-Provide a manicure treatment & VR09-Provide pedicure treatment
Manicures involve particular attention to natural nail care, plus a luxurious hand and arm massage and nail painting techniques, pedicures are designed to pamper tired, aching feet, soften hard skin and to generally make the feet more attractive. This unit will allow you offer these two treatments to a highly professional standard using Creative spa products.
VR11-Provide Wax depilation
A highly profitable and popular treatment.  You will receive training with the use of warm and hot wax techniques, therefore you will be able to adapt your working techniques to suit the client’s needs.  You will be shown hair removal from several areas of the body allowing you to treat clients to a professional standard with exceptional standards of hygiene.
VR16-Implement good working relationships with colleagues and clients
This unit allows you as a professional therapist to be able to deal with a number of situations that may occur when working for yourself on in a salon environment.
VR108-Provide bleaching of hair and chemical depilatory treatment
Bleaching of hair and chemical depilatory are now a popular salon treatment particularly for clients with superfluous (unwanted) hair. However this service will compliment all clients particularly your waxing or Epilation clientele who may want an interim measure between treatments. .   
Most bleaching and chemical depilatory training is based upon product knowledge however on successful completion of the unit you will be awarded with a qualification that is recognised in industry and will enable you to gain insurance.

Eight days – 10.00am - 4.00pm (these can be arranged to suit your own individual requirements i.e.; once a month or on an intensive basis, case study work is a integral part of this course)

This is flexible and will be worked out on discussion with you to meet your own individual learning needs –please contact the academy to discuss further.
A study gap will be planned between training and assessment days to allow for completion of case studies and written tasks.

Assessment Days
Completion of a written test on the theory delivered for set units

  • Completion of VR02/VR74 exam (if required)
  • Submission of case studies
  • Submission of VR02/VR74 task pack (if required)
Performance of  practical treatments (You will need to bring client/s with you, ensuring they have had the relevant patch tests)
