Course Introduction
This course is structured and designed to enable you to learn manicure, pedicure, nail enhancements, nail art and related Health & Safety plus one other optional unit of your choice.
You can choose from:
- Salon reception duties
- Improve and maintain facial skin conditions
- Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide make-up treatment
- Pierce ears
This is a new and industry led pathway for a therapist wishing to have an NVQ nail qualification and a career in the nail industry.
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded with a qualification that is recognised in industry and will enable you to gain insurance.
Entrance Requirements
No requirements needed. You will need to sit an independent exam on day 7

Seven days - 10.00am-4.00pm

NB If you wish to follow this chosen pathway but are already qualified in some areas, please speak to the academy lecturer who can advise you to use our prior accreditation process and offer a different course cost

Day 1
- Health & Safety unit requirements
- Outline case study criteria for manicure
- Input of manicure related theory
- Practical demonstration of a manicure
- Student practical performance
Day 2
- Promotional unit requirements
- Outline case study criteria for pedicure
- Input of pedicure related theory
- Practical demonstration of a pedicure
- Student practical performance
A six week gap between day two and day three will be given to allow for continued practice, completion of VR02/VR74 task book, completion of written questions and to produce an aftercare leaflet.
Day 3

Maintain effectiveness at work input
- Manicure & pedicure practical assessment
- Input wrap systems related theory
- Practical demonstration of natural nail wraps and repairs
(You will need to provide a client for the practical assessment)
A four week gap between day two and day three will be given to allow for continued practice & performance of case studies, completion of tasks & written questions and production of an aftercare leaflet
Day 4

Outline case study criteria for nail extensions
- Input wrap systems related theory
- Demonstration of tip application and fibreglass/silk wrap system
- Student practical performance
Day 5
- Outline case study criteria for nail art
- Demonstration of nail art techniques
- Student practical performance
Day 6
- Outline case study criteria for chosen option
- Input related theory
- Demonstration of chosen treatment
- Student practical performance
A six week gap will be given to allow for completion of case studies, written work, continued study and portfolio compilation
Day 7– Assessment day
- Completion of an independent exam paper
- Manicure plus full set fibreglass nail enhancements & nail art practical assessment
- Natural nail overlays & nail art practical assessment
- Chosen option practical assessment
- One to one unit completion
